The Muslim Council of Elders (MCE) will hold an urgent meeting in Abu Dhabi on Monday to discuss possible ways to stop the Israeli aggression and escalation against Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.
The meeting, to be chaired by Grand Imam of Al Azhar Dr Sheikh Ahmed Al Tayyeb, will also mull over the provocations that target worshippers and breach the sanctity of Jerusalem.
The Muslim Council of Elders had condemned the Zionist aggressions and unjust acts against the Muslims of Jerusalem and Al Aqsa Holy Mosque on the first day of the clashes.
The Council, considering these aggressions a part of a bigger plan for Judaizing Jerusalem and eradicating the Arab Islamic identity of the Holy City, has asked the international organizations and institutions - including the United Nations, UN Security Council, and International Quartet - to take action.
Dr Al Tayyeb earlier invited all MCE members to the urgent meeting based on the Council's critical role in promoting peace and protecting Muslim sacred sites against such aggressions worldwide.
Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi said the Council is deeply concerned about the aggressions, and plays an important role in defending the cases of Arab and Muslim nations.
Dr Nuaimi said the religious leadership of Al Aqsa has perfectly adopted a peaceful and rational approach and supported the unification of the Palestinian people.
"This positive, wise and balanced approach puts the Israeli occupation to shame before the whole world and enables the Arab leaders to speak from a powerful position."
He also praised the efforts of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as well as the considerable contributions of Egypt, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
"The Muslim Council of Elders embraces many Muslim scholars and experts who work towards ending the conflicts and infighting in Muslim societies across the globe."
"The Council also stands against the breach of sanctity of life, honour, and property together with the negative psychological, social, economic, and political effects which may cause the whole nation to shatter and fall apart."
