DUBAI — Expatriates will now be able to undergo medical fitness tests, including blood tests, at private laboratories approved by the Department of Health and Medical Services (Dohms), said Director-General of the department Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid yesterday.
By December, private laboratories that meet the Dohms’ criteria will be allowed to carry out medical fitness tests that are required by expatriates before obtaining residency permits, he said.
“We are in the final stages of this project. By next week, the draft of the standards will be sent to the private hospitals and laboratories so that they can start the medical fitness tests by December,” he told Khaleej Times.
He said the standards would be specified to laboratories after they obtain a certificate of approval from Dohms. “We want the private sector to be equally involved in the growth of the health sector as per the new regulations adopted by Dubai Health Authority,” he added.
