Meeting will discuss new methods to tackle cyber crimes, human trafficking and frauds

ABU DHABI — Top security experts from different countries of the world will read out papers at the second Middle East Security and Safety Exhibition and Conference on making the world a safer place to live in.

"New methods to tackle cyber crimes, human trafficking, money laundering and credit card frauds will also be discussed at the meeting," said Brigadier-General Matar Salem bin Msaed Al Niadi, Director Information System Directorate, Ministry of Interior while speaking at a Press conference.

The conference, which was also addressed by Ahmed Humaid Al Mazrouie, Managing Director Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company (Adnec), Dr Joachim Henneke, CEO of Messe Essen, and Abdullah Ali Said bin Sahwa, Chairman of Conference's Scientific Committee.

Brigadier-General Matar Salem said that the event is being organised with the cooperation of Adnec and Messe Essen and it will be inaugurated by General Shaikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

He said that on the personal invitation of Lieutenant-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nayhan, Minister of Interior, high level delegations from the GCC states and other Arab countries as well as international security organisations would take part in the event.

The ministry of interior's pavilion this year, he said, would be much bigger than those in previous year. "It is divided into different sections to highlight the achievements of different Police departments as well as techniques being applied," he informed.

"New projects to be showcased include the Al Ain Print, eGate, eArchival, early alarm, moving communications, police aviation, civil defence and the identity card project," said Brig.-Gen. Matar Salem.

The UAE Central Bank governor will present his paper on the country's efforts in encountering money-laundering, and terror-financing; Lieutenant-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, will speak on Public Security and the role of Security Education; Erik Laykin, Director of Online Security Department, FBI will talk about electronic money-laundering; and Michael More from HSBC will present his paper on Credit Card crimes.

Apart from the security conference, a workshop on "Technology against Terror" will also take place for the first time. It will focus on the optimum use of security systems to protect office buildings, high-rises, industrial plants, events centres, sports grounds, shopping malls, airports, logistic system as well as drinking water, electricity and food supply.

Over 200 exhibitors from 32 countries will showcase their safety equipment and technologies at four-day 2nd Middle East Security and Safety Exhibition and Conference, which will kick off from November 14.

As against 151 participants in the first show last year, the number of companies has shot up to 200 this time, said Ahmed Humaid Al Mazrouie.
