Gen Shaikh Mohammed said military service is a patriotic duty and pivotal in maintaining the nation’s federation and developmental achievements.
“Thanks to the unlimited support of the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, our armed forces are ready and capable of shouldering their tasks in the country and abroad,” he added.
Addressing the officers and personnel at the camp, Shaikh Mohammed said: “Our forefathers made huge sacrifices to protect and defend the land. Today, you are capable of assuming the honour of protecting your land, your people and your nation. You are the safeguards of this nation.”
He noted that the volatile situation in the Middle East requires preparedness to confront any challenges.
“We learned from past events end experiences witnessed in the region to be alert and prepared for all scenarios. The next phase requires that we work together to realize the highest standards of efficiency and therefore, we are focused on developing capabilities of our national resources by providing education and training. We are confident that our armed forces personnel are capable of confronting challenges and risks.”
Gen Shaikh Mohamed was accompanied by Shaikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and a number of senior officials.
He was received at Thawban Camp by Lt. General Hamad Mohamed Thani Al Romaithi, Chief of Staff of the armed forces and senior officers.
Gen Shaikh Mohamed toured the Camp’s combat training centre and was briefed on the programmes offered there to hone the skills of the armed forces personnel.
At the end of the visit, Gen Shaikh Mohamed had lunch with the officers and personnel of the camp.
