Ministry orders to recall unsafe food from market

The ordinance is designed to give necessary authority to track the food production chain and withdraw food items from the market if proven unfit for human consumption.

The ordinance also gives the prerogative to recall cattle feed from the marketplace in the event of non-compliance to the requirements of the safety of feed.

The ordinance regulates the procedures to be taken by the officials of food establishments at the time of import or production, processing, manufacturing and distribution of food that may pose risk to human health or many not conform to the requirements and standards of food safety.

Decision also regulates the procedures to be taken by officials at the feed handling facilities.

The ordinance obliges officials and food establishments for retention of records and documents necessary for the tracking, recovery and the withdrawal of food and cattle feed.
