Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and President of the DHA, on Monday inaugurated the dental units at the DHA’s stand during his tour of the 16th edition of the UAE International Dental Conference & Arab Dental Exhibition (AEEDC Dubai) which is being held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“The launching of these two units is of significant importance as it will help us reach out to people in the remote areas of Dubai as well as the handicapped and the elderly population,” said Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director-General of the authority.

“We intend to use these mobile dental units to carry out mass screening of students to raise awareness about the importance of dental hygiene and regular check-ups.” The mobile unit is equipped with the latest devices and it has all features of a dental clinic.

Dr Ahmed bin Kalban, CEO of Primary Healthcare Sector at the DHA, said, “The dental units have the latest X-ray equipment and are even fitted with intra-oral cameras. We can perform all procedures that one can perform in a dental clinic.” Dr Tariq Khoory, Director of Dental Services, Primary Healthcare Sector, said, “Using one mobile unit, we can screen over 150 patients during each awareness campaign. In terms of treatment, we can provide treatment to at least 15 patients.”
