DUBAI - Dr. Rashid Ahmed bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water, has issued a ministerial resolution updating the list of 401 types of banned
and controlled pesticides as per the EU and US policies for sustainable use of pesticides. The pesticides are classified into groups depending on their degree of use and health hazards and risks they pose to both human and animal health and their impact on the environment.
The resolution divides the chemical substances into five groups : 232 banned agricultural pesticides, 53 controlled pesticides, 80 banned pesticides that are harmful to public health, 28 controlled pesticides and eight banned veterinary pesticides.
The resolutions spells out regulations of use, circulation, transportation, registration and import of these chemical substances.
