Members of the public can report all kinds of medical errors/complaints, availability and disbursement of medicines as well as any other health-related issues.
In a message posted on www.moh.gov.ae Al Qutami says, "The new portal will be self-serving single-contact source for all health services for the people of the UAE. The portal will provide several services that will be available through highly-secured login IDs and passwords for different interest groups in health services."
"By focusing on the establishment of an efficient Health Information System (HIS), the ministry is planning to provide an unparallel control on the treatment of patients.
“The HIS will be integrated with the portal at a later stage which will provide an increased accessibility of information without geographical boundaries. We promise a world class e-Health Service Portal very soon," it reads.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Dr Ali bin Shukr, Chief Executive Officer of Support Services in the MoH, said the aim of the gateway was to give an opportunity to the public to make comments, complaints and suggestions.
"Once the complaint is made, a committee at the MoH will look into it, investigate and take the required action, if needed, depending on the nature of the complaint," he explained.
He said that complaints and suggestions had already started pouring in. "The complaints are then filtered and passed on to the relevant departments. The minister also looks at them personally," he added.
Besides the Minister's Gate, the website lists the organisational chart, statistics, e-services, professional code of conduct, an evaluation manual for physicians, pharmacists and healthcare professionals as well as the MoH strategy.`
