Mohammed assures support to Bahrain

Shaikh Mohammed telephoned King Hamad of Bahrain on the situation in Bahrain and the dialogue between the government and people to restore stability in the Kingdom.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, stressed support of the UAE to the Kingdom of Bahrain and the efforts being exerted by King Hamad and followed up by Bahraini Crown Prince Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to provide good living conditions and security in the kingdom.

Meanwhile, a national unity political party has been formed in Bahrain to deal with the prevailing situation and tackle sectarianism. The group will hold its first public gathering today to highlight its mission and objectives. The meeting will be held at Al Fateh Islamic Centre after Isha prayers with all Bahrainis invited.

Formed by leading religious and social figures, the party, which is headed by scholar Dr Abdullateef Al Mahmood, will encourage politicians to engage in a national dialogue called for by Crown Prince Shaikh Salman.

The party in its first statement called upon Bahrainis to unite to deal with the current situation.

The group affirmed its support to the current ruling system saying it considered the country’s stability as top priority.

The party called upon the government to release all political prisoners and continue with reforms.
