Mohammed Awarded German Order of Merit

ABU DHABI — General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces has been awarded the Order of Merit of Federal Republic of Germany, in recognition of his efforts and support to the humanitarian works worldwide.

Gen. Shaikh Mohammed received German Minister of Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his delegation last evening.

The German minister is visiting the UAE as part of a regional tour.

Gen. Shaikh Mohammed welcomed Steinmeier and expressed his thanks to the German government for bestowing him with the honour. He praised the progressive ties between the UAE and Germany and commended the role played by Germany in the international efforts to resolve different issues, particularly the Palestinian issue. Steinmeier expressed the German government’s appreciation to the Government of Abu Dhabi for granting a plot of land to build the German embassy. The new embassy complex was opened on Wednesday in presence of the German minister.
