Mohammed visits Al Habtoor Group

His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday viewed Al Habtoor Group’s investment plans during a visit to the conglomerate’s head office in Dubai.

Shaikh Mohammed viewed the two plans by the Group to build two luxury hotels on Sheikh Zayed Road and Palm Jumeirah Island.

In the past months, Al Habtoor group announced investments worth of US$1.6 billion (AED 5.9billion) in the hotel industry.

Shaikh Mohammed was received at the Groups head office in Al Wasl Street by Khalaf Al Habtoor, chairman of Al Habtoor Group, Mohammed Al Habtoor, deputy chairman and CEO of Al Habtoor Group, Ahmed Al Habtoor, CEO of Al Habtoor Automobiles, Mohammed Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Managing Director of the Al Habtoor Group, Yusef Shalabi, Director of projects at Al Habtoor Group and Martyn Wild Project Director at Al Habtoor Group LLC, Real Estate Developer.

Khalaf Al Habtoor stated: “We are greatly honored by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s visit. We feel greatly blessed by his visit which gives us further incentive in our march forward in line with the progress being made by the UAE and its government’s future vision.”

The Al Habtoor Group unveiled a hotel and theatre mega-project to be built on the site of the Metropolitan Hotel on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road.

Habtoor Palace includes three new hotels with a combined total of 1612 rooms and a theatre which will compare to theatres in Las Vegas.

The project, wholly funded by The Al Habtoor Group, is scheduled for completion in 2015.

Starwood Hotels and Resorts will manage the three hotels, including the emirate’s first St Regis and W branded properties.

Al Habtoor Group also has plans to develop the first Waldorf Astoria resort in Dubai on the Palm Jumeirah island. The new project will feature signature restaurants, a luxury health club and spa, business center, six meeting halls, a ballroom big enough to accommodate 600 persons. Construction of the 324-room hotel is expected to start next year.
