The auction at the Emirates Towers Terrace tomorrow will feature collectible items belonging to prominent UAE families, including the royal family, and will help raise money for the ‘Dubai Cares’ campaign. The auction is supported by Christie’s auction house. Shaikha Manal bint Mohammed has donated one of her own works of art, a painting titled ‘Anticipation’.
Among the items to be auctioned are a 302-year-old, gold-laminated copy of the Holy Quran, antique gold and silver coin collection from the Ummayad and Abbasid period (82 Hijrah-213 Hijrah) and an untitled painting by Hakim Ghazali, personally donated by Minister for Culture, Youth and Community Development Abdul Rahman Mohammed Nasir Al Owais; ‘Hilya’, a piece of Arabic calligraphy, donated by Mohammed Al Murr, Chairman, Dubai Cultural Council; ‘Waw Series’, a painting by Abdul Qader Al Raes, one of UAE’s most celebrated artists; ‘Flying Angle’, a Tabriz hanging carpet, donated by Mohammed Abdul Jalil Al Fahim, honorary chairman, Al Fahim Group; a pure Persian silk carpet, donated by Shafiq Ahmed Saleh Abdul Hamid, CEO, City Engineering and Contracting; ‘Pancrace des Civilisations’, a painting by Ghass Rouzkhosh, donated by Fabod Dowlatshahi, President, Delwood Consultancy Services; ‘The Gate a Village Scene’ and ‘Iron and Steel Shop - Making of Steel Trays’, paintings by A. Mohseni Kermanshahi, donated by Riad Kammal, Chairman, Arab Tec Construction; and ‘King of the Desert’, a painting by Wajih Nahle, donated by the artist himself.
The auction is part of Shaikha Manal’s role in Dubai Cares campaign.
Meanwhile, Al Zahra Hospital, Sharjah announced a donation of Dh1 million to Dubai Cares. The contribution was announced at a meeting between Shaikh Ahmad bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Shaikh Majid bin Faisal Al Qasimi, Managing Director of Al Zahra Hospital.
Praising the campaign’s objective, Shaikh Majid said, “Dubai Cares is one more addition to the UAE’s humanitarian activities. We are glad to be part of this righteous initiative.”
