The ministry plans to implement a set of initiatives that achieve the ministry’s strategic objective, according to Mubarak Saeed Al Dhahiri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour.

He said the ministry’s goals include securing the interest of both the employee and the employer.

Al Dhahiri gave the statement on the sideline of the Workers’ Marathon, organised by the ministry as part of the UAE celebrations of the International Workers’ Day at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, which was attended by 3,000 workers.

“Led by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, our prudent leadership attaches much interest and concern over workers on humane basis by maintaining their rights secured and stipulated by the UAE constitution,” he said, noting that, it also provides the continuous support to workers rights.

Mahir Al Obad, Assistant Undersecretary for Inspection Affairs at the ministry, said the ministry has enforced the resolutions passed by the Cabinet, which make it mandatory for employers to provide suitable accommodation for their employees according to the international standards enforced in advanced countries, as well as building of model labour cities, setting up of labour courts with special rules that help in accelerating ruling on labour lawsuits.

Al Obad underlined that all decisions and initiatives taken by the ministry are in the interest of both the employee and employer, as partners in the development of the country. This, he said, cements relations between the two, and increases production efficiently.

Qasim Jamil, Director of Orientation Department at the ministry also spoke on the events and demonstrated the ministry’s role in holding a number of events in the country under the slogan, ‘Our workers are partners in development’. — news@khaleejtimes.com
