As part of his role as Director of Norka-Roots, Dr Moopen will play a key role in the development of policies and strategies for the welfare of non-resident Keralites (NRKs).

“I am honoured to be chosen by the Norka-Roots for this very significant role. There is a huge population of Keralites living in the Gulf. Norks-Roots is a wonderful initiative of the Kerala government that ensures non-resident Keralites are taken care of while outside the country.”

Norka is a Government of Kerala entity developed to ensure the welfare of the NRKs, redress their grievances and safeguard their rights.

Norka-Roots acts as an interface between the NRKs and the Government of Kerala and is a forum for addressing the NRKs’ problems, safeguarding their rights and rehabilitating the returnees.

A physician-turned entrepreneur, Dr Moopen has been a leading business player in the region having established a 145-unit strong healthcare enterprise.
