"The new buses are bigger and better. More buses were added to the fleet because of the ever-increasing numbers of passengers travelling on this route," Ammar bin Tamim, Director of the Administration of DTC said.

Tamim said that till now 92 coasters were being used and with the addition of these 10 new, bigger buses, the number of buses on the route had gone up to 102. He clarified the fare on this route would remain at Dh5.

Meanwhile, the DTC has been appointed official carrier of the ninth Dubai International Holy Quran Award, which starts this month. "A number of buses and taxis have been arranged for transporting members of the delegations and judges who would be taking part in the Award, from September 28 to October 30," said Tamim.

He said the corporation has been providing all the transport needs of the Award, and that instructions had been left with operation department to provide suitable services.
