Islamabad: Former provincial lawmaker of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chaudhry Mohammad Shabbir and 25 others as well as members of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) have announced joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
The announcement was made at a ceremony in the presence of PTI Punjab organiser Chaudhry Sarwar, opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed and MPA Mian Aslam Iqbal. The new entrants to the party expressed their confidence in PTI chief Imran Khan.
Meanwhile, a disgruntled leader of the the PTI has alleged that the party has been receiving funds from Jewish and Indian lobbies in the United States for furthering their agendas.
The allegation was levelled during a television programme by one of PTI's founding member Akbar S. Babar, who has submitted what he calls documentary evidence with the Election Commission of Pakistan. According to a report of the Jewish Funding Directory, foreigners, including American Barry C. Schneps and United States-born Indian Indur Dosanjh, had been funding the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for lobbying in their favour and interests.
Babar, responding to the report, said an audit in 2011 had revealed illegal funding in the party but its report was not made public.
