FUJAIRAH — Fujairah police Department has completed installing fixed radars on internal roads and highways in different parts of the emirate.
As many as 12 new radars were installed in the internal streets inside Fujairah city, bringing the total number of radars on all internal roads to 20.
Brigadier Mohammed Ahmed bin Ghanim Al Kaabi, Director General of Fujairah police, said the step was taken to curb traffic accidents and violations of the traffic rules.
As many as 13,816 traffic accidents were recorded in 2009, as against 13,309 in 2008, while 104,319 offences were recorded last year as against 136,393 in 2008. — salah@khaleejtimes.com
