Ammar bin Tamim, Director of Dubai Taxi at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said that the organisation had received a design from Al Yousef Motors for a car so as to meet requirements of special needs people.

Bin Tamim confirmed that the design had been approved after being checked by a special committee. “This has been done to make sure that the vehicle specifications are identical to the organisation’s demands and fulfil the requirements of the special needs people,” he added.

He added that the company had been selected out of 10 suppliers after submitting a tender on Tijari.com to purchase five new

vehicles bringing the total number to seven. “These vehicles are characterised with special features, operate round-the-clock and can be ordered through the Reservation and Distribution Section of Dubai Taxi,” said Bin Tamim.

He said that Dubai Taxi for special needs people, after addition of the new vehicles, will raise the current number of trips from 50 a month to more than 100.
