Most people in country don’t trust doctors

DUBAI — When even the government feels it is better for the locals to get medical treatment abroad, health services in the country can hardly expect improvement, much less win the trust of people, aver patients and doctors in one voice.

Many people who spoke to your favourite No. 1 newspaper Khaleej Times said the medical scene here left much to be desired. The lack of trust in the system and the spiralling cost of treatment leave people with few options. Dr Fadi Hussain of a government hospital in Sharjah says: “For locals, seeking foreign medical treatment has become a matter of luxury and enjoyment.”

Another doctor Dr Salman Siddique believed that the mistrust in the doctors sprang from linguistic and medical barriers.
