Dubai: The Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA) Al Muhaisnah medical fitness centre now functions round-the-clock, said a top health official.
Maisa Al Bustani, director of medical fitness at the DHA, announced during the DHA’s smart clinic that the Al Muhaisnah medical fitness centre now functions round-the-clock, seven days a week, for the convenience of customers. Al Muhaisnah centre accepts all categories of clients, provides all types of medical fitness services including express and VIP services.
The centre provides only visa renewal services on Fridays and Saturdays and on weekdays caters to all medical fitness services.
The DHA has 16 medical fitness centres in Dubai and some new centres will be added in 2015, in line with the DHA’s expansion plans.
Of the 16 health centres, Al Quoz centre, which accepts all categories of clients, is now open from 7.30am until 9pm on weekdays.
The medical fitness centre at Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza) which is for Jafza’s clients and employees, Emirates Airlines medical fitness centre which is for Emirates Airlines employees and the medical fitness centre at Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) which is for DIFC clients, are open on weekdays from 8am to 30 pm.
Al Mankhool, Al Twar, Al Khawaneej, Al Bada’a and Al Lusaily medical fitness centres, which are dedicated medical fitness centres for household domestic employees of the catchment area, are open from 7.30am to 2.30pm on weekdays.
Household domestic employees include cooks, cleaners, gardeners, nannies, nurses, and drivers.
The airport medical fitness centre, which is for Dubai International Airport staff, Al Safa medical fitness centre, which is a dedicated centre for executive employees, Dafza which is for Dafza and Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority’s clients and staff, Knowledge Village Medical Fitness Centre, which is for Tecom employees, university students and executive employees and Al Rashidiya which is a female only medical fitness centre, are open from 7.30am to 2.30pm.
Al Karama medical fitness centre, which is an express medical centre, for all categories and also conducts occupational screening, is open from 7.30am to 2.30pm on weekdays.
Occupational/pre-employment screening
“The Karama medical fitness centre has a dedicated wing to provide services for people who need pre-employment medical certificates and occupational certificates for specialised jobs. The other centre that provides this service is Al Muhaisnah centre. In addition to the mandatory medical fitness screening that is required for all expats in the UAE to obtain a residency, employment or education visa, certain professions require mandatory additional medical screening and therefore for the convenience of the public, we opened up a dedicated occupational screening section in Karama medical centre in September this year.”
Bustani said the occupational screening is needed for those people who wish to get a certification according to the requirement of their profession such as a pre-employment certificate. It is also required for heavy truck drivers, civil defence professionals, people working in the food industry etc. due to the nature of their job. She added the occupational screening procedure is in line with international guidelines and that it is for the safety of the community to ensure that people who are hired for jobs, especially specialised jobs, are healthy and fit to perform their duties effectively.
Services provided
In terms of service provision, she highlighted that the DHA offers mobile medical fitness service for companies with a large number of employees. “This is not the Tawajod (at your doorstep) service, it’s an additional, free-of-cost service, that we started for companies with a large number of employees. This service is available for renewal of visas which only requires a blood test. Our team conducts these tests on the spot in the premises of the company. We encourage more companies to make use of this opportunity. At one time more than 70 employees are screened.”
In addition, the DHA has the Tawajod (at your doorstep) service and Tawajod Express service. This service is free-of-cost for people with special needs and only Dh260 is charged for visa.
