On the occasion, prominent poets from Dubai and Pakistan read out their humorous verses to the captive audience.

"The Pakistan Association had also invited Dubai-based Indian poets to further the peace process between both countries," said Saleem Farooque, General Secretary of Pakistan Association.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, prominent poet, Saeed Agha - who had travelled from Karachi to attend the Mushaira - said, "It was really an enjoyable evening as we had a very appreciative audience. There are certain rules that the audience has to follow, like sitting patiently throughout the poetry session. The audience enjoyed the verses very much and it was a very well organised event." Among the verses was the popular piece Maine bhi apne shouq ka izhar kiya and many others.

Other prominent poets who attended the event included Professor Inayat Ali Khan, Mohammed Shafiq Malik, Athar Shah Khan (Jedi), Sarfaraz Mahmood Shahid, Khalid Masood Khan, Farzana Sahab Mirza, Sayyed Ali Shabnam Karwari and Haji Abbas. A large number of expatriate audiences, including families, from different walks of life patronised the event.
