It was a day of jubilation for the workers stuck at the Mussafah labour accommodation in Abu Dhabi. Not only did the Indian Embassy offered the Legend Project Group workers Dh7,200 for food and assistance, they have been offered jobs from local and expat-run companies.
Dilip Singh, a worker, said that he along with others were 'contacted by an Indian-run company' for jobs.
However, five out of the six workers have sought to return to India for good.

"We want to return home. We want an end to this misery. Now we see a light of hope," Nand Kishor Prasad said.
The one worker, who chose to stay back, is Brijesh Tiwari. He has accepted an employment offer and hopes to join the new company soon.
"I have been offered a job by a contracting company. The company has a local owner. The new firm has paid my visa penalty."
According to Tiwari, his new company has paid a fine of more than Dh6,000. He has been told the penalty amount would be deducted on a monthly basis from his salary.
"It's been a long while, I am sitting idle. I am desperate to work. However, I am hopeful the visa fines of other workers will be waived off," Tiwari added.
Moreover, the Indian Embassy on Monday presented a cheque of Dh7,200 to the workers.
"They are six and each worker will get Dh1,200," an official at the Indian Embassy said after the Independence Day celebrations.

"Their issues will now be addressed by the Consulate General of India, Dubai. We have already coordinated with the Consulate. Also, we will remain in contact with the workers for any assistance they require from our side," the official added.
