Nahyan opens UAE’s first Confucius Institute at ZU

ABU DHABI - Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, President of the Zayed University Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan officially opened today the Confucius Institute for Chinese Language at the Zayed Campus in Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi.

A number of Shaikhs, diplomats and Chinese dignitaries joined the students and faculty members at the opening ceremony.

The institute, named after the great Chinese philosopher, is the latest to come to the UAE. The institute promoted by Hanban, the Chinese National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language runs over 100 similar institutions in 50 countries.

Sheikh Nahyan, joined by Hu Zhiping, Deputy Director-General of Hanban unveiled the memorial plaque symbolising the official opening of the institute which will teach Chinese language in the UAE.
