The statement follows the company's decision to recall one of its chocolate products from the UAE market.
According to officials, Kitkat Chunky Caramel stocks were recalled in Australia a couple of weeks ago when some plastic pieces were found in them. Officials termed it a precautionary measure and said the brand would be on the shelves again as soon as stocks had been thoroughly checked.
"Since Nestle’s utmost priority is consumers’ safety, Nestle Middle East has announced the completion of a voluntary recall of the brand (65g) from the Middle East market to be replaced with new products," said Fadi Sahyoun, a senior Nestle Middle East official.
"The voluntary recall has been conducted after Nestle Australia Ltd discovered that the product contained small pieces of plastic. The origin of these small pieces of plastic has been identified. It lies in the production process. Kit Kat Chunky Caramel, 65g, is available in the GCC and Levant Markets of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan and Lebanon. All authorities concerned in the countries have been notified accordingly," he said.
Officials stressed that no other Kit Kat product had been affected in the Middle East. "We have been consistently checking our products time and again in order to ensure quality.
The other products of Nestle are also being checked," said an official.
