ABU DHABI — Tourists and businessmen visiting the capital can now avail themselves of an illustrative map of the emirate in English. Issued by Abu Dhabi Tourist Authority, the new map illustrates the emirate’s key attractions.
“ADTA is keen to update its publicity materials, especially those meant for tourists. We believe these materials are the first link between the visitor and the emirate,” said Ali Ahmed Al Hosani, Marketing Manager at ADTA.
The foldable map consists of several sections broadly divided into two parts. The first contains a topographic map of Abu Dhabi island featuring key geographic, business and tourist landmarks, including hotels, restaurants, parks, gardens, and official bodies and institutions, etc. Interpretive codes are provided to facilitate the use of map.
There is another section containing detailed information related to the emirate, including the population size, legislations, economic and tourism status, geographical features, culture, heritage, local costume, dialects and languages, official holidays and currency.
One section includes names, phone numbers and locations of hotels, clubs, malls, trade centres, embassies, hospitals, post offices and tourist agencies.
The second part of the map is divided into three sections; the first contains a map for downtown Abu Dhabi featuring its main streets and roads, and names of the key official institutions.
The second section contains main tourist activities and events held in the emirate in 2006, and those lined up for 2007.
The third part contains an illustrated guide of key tourist landmarks in the emirate, including Emirates Palace Hotel, Heritage Village, shopping centers and malls, The Carpets Souq, Abu Dhabi Corniche, and the city of Al Ain.
Al Hosani said ADTA would bring out more publicity materials in the future with a view to benefiting tourists.
