He said that a new computer system linking birth records in hospitals and the Dubai Immigration and Naturalisation Department for visa processing had been put into place.

“Next year a primary healthcare facility and speciality clinic next to Al Baraha Hospital’s main building will be built. Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital is also being built in Jumairah. Al Ittehad Polyclinic in Al Wasl area will be opened after Eid Al Adha while a new dental centre will also be built in Hor Al Anz,” he said.

Dr Hashemi explained that new staff would be hired for paediatric centres.

“Local staff will train in Canada and Europe. We want highly qualified local doctors, that is why they are sent for training,” he added.
