Vatel Emirates School was inaugurated by Shaikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

Around 71 students have already enrolled in the different hotel and tourism management programmes.

Oussama El Omari, CEO of RAK FTZ, said the introduction of this school, which is the first of its kind in Ras Al Khaimah, is a vital investment in the future of the emirate and the country at large.

“The Emirate has been lacking a high quality hotel school to help build up the tourism industry of the region from the ground up. With Vatel Emirates, UAE nationals will be trained in the different hotel and tourism managerial skills to attract tourists and develop our hospitality and tourism industry,” said Al Omari.

Abderraouf Tebourbi, General Director for Vatel Tunis and UAE, said students at Vatel Emirates School will also get the opportunity to study at the Vatel Los Angeles as part of an Academic Content MBA Hospitality Tourism Management course.

He said that the school is also reviewing the possibility of launching a Marco Polo Program, where students will spend one semester in another country to assimilate other cultures and study different languages. Ras Al Khaimah has six five-star hotels and more than 10 other big hotels which have largely boosted the tourism industry.

Hilary Mclormack, Manager of RAK Tourism, said that over the recent years, RAK started on classifying its hotels and hotel apartments to further upgrade the quality of its hospitality sector. ismail@khaleejtimes.com
