New Indian consul-general vows better, faster services

The new Consul-General of India in Dubai, Anurag Bhushan, has promised to ensure better and faster services for the Indian community and to make the consulate more approachable.

Said to be the youngest head of the mission so far, Bhushan was speaking at his first public meeting held on Wednesday night.

At the welcome dinner hosted by the India Club, he said he admired the “resourcefulness and never-say-die spirit” of the Indian community in Dubai.

“In the early 1980s, Dubai was nothing and today it is a grand metropolis and a big economy in the world. The Indian community here has also contributed to this growth,” he noted.

Saluting the nation-building skills of the community, Bhushan appreciated them for giving back to the society, both in their mother land and their second home.

“There are many things that we need to learn from the people here, especially their far-sightedness,” he said. Pointing out that the welfare of the community will be of prime importance, the Consul-General said he would strive to improve the services provided by the mission and the agencies to which it has outsourced various services.

Chairman of the India Club Ram Buxani welcomed the Consul-General, and accorded him the honorary membership of the club.

Wishing a successful tenure for the new head of the mission that oversees Dubai and Northern Emirates, Buxani assured him all support and cooperation from the club’s members.

“The India Club, having over 2,500 families as its members, serves over 10,000 heads through cultural, social, and sports activities,” he said. Noting that the club has entered into its 50th year, Buxani said the institution is a true example of the Indo-UAE friendship.
