The market will be officially inaugurated by His Highness Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman.

The market, built over an area of 1,800 square metres with 44 shops and stalls, cost Dh5 million.

The new market includes 44 retail meat and poultry shops and stalls as well as cafeterias for public and a permanent office for municipality's inspectors and supervisors.

All the 44 stalls were rented out during the auction organised by the civic authorities on August 14 at the municipality's public health directorate premises.

The municipality made efforts to equip the market with all services necessary for consumers.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Saif Salim Al Shamsi, Deputy Director-General of Ajman Municipality, said that the new market is easily accessible to people from various parts of the emirate.

The market, Al Shamsi said, is designed to meet the requirements of the emirate's meat and poultry trade and will contribute to the speedy development-taking place in Ajman.

He noted that the Ajman Municipality will take care of the waste management, security, housekeeping and other services.

Al Shamsi said that the new market, which is one of the municipality's projects that contributes to the emirate's infrastructural development, has a modern design and includes an administrative block and retail shops.

Centralised refrigerators and warehouses have also been set up in the market.

He said there is a rest area for truck drivers, a cafeteria, residential quarters for workers, a mosque, garbage collection areas, a police station and restaurants as well as an administrative section. A parking lot for customers is also ready.
