The library is expected to start functioning after Eid Al Fitr and is estmated to cost Dh10 million.
The municipality has also begun construction of another library at Al Mankhool, and is finalising designs for a new building for the Dubai Central Library at Al Mamzar.
According to the officials, the municipality had completed the construction of the two-storeyed Al Towar library in July this year. “We are currently giving the final touches,'' said officials.
The building includes a main section, which can hold 12,000 books. It will have a seating facility for 150 readers. In addition to this, there will be a children’s library with 9,000 books with a capacity of 100 readers. Also, there would be two multi-purpose halls for both adults and children with a capacity of 150 persons. It will also have a cafeteria, administration block, and prayer rooms.
“The neighbourhood has a residential park, a number of schools, and residential buildings. Moreover, a lot of greenery has been added, including a beautiful water fountain,'' said the officials.
Meanwhile, the Dh10 million public library at Al Mankhool will benefit people living in Karama, Satwa, Al Dhiyafa, Al Jafiliya, and other areas.
The work of the new library is expected to be completed by April next year. The new library will be located near Eid prayer ground at Al Mankhool, and it will serve Bur Dubai.
