DUBAI - The Philippine School (TPS), a new school for Filipino children in the emirate, will open on Saturday at Al Twar 3 in Dubai.
The second Philippine School to be established in the emirate, The Philippine School Dubai offers itself to become a second home to the Filipinos away from home. The first is The United International Private School, also operating in Dubai. However, there are a total of eight schools offering the Philippine curriculum in the UAE of which three are in Abu Dhabi and three in Sharjah.
Ms Letty Samual, one of the movers behind TPS, said the school commits itself to moulding the future of Filipino children through academic excellence and value-building.
She said that TPS is built on a vision of becoming a Centre of Academic Excellence in Dubai. "It is patterned on the Philippine curriculum and approved by the Department of Education in the Philippines," she noted.
TPS also has Arabic and Islamic studies approved by the Ministry of Education in Dubai, which caters to the needs of Muslim Filipinos as well.
Among its special features are continuous learning programme for teachers and staff and a broad range of integrated services (English Proficiency, Voice Lesson, Basketball Clinic and many others).
As a school, TPS will strongly focus on academics in a well-equipped campus environment with highly qualified educators, parent-friendly environment, and well-planned school activities to sharpen the talents of the children.
TPS also has such facilities as IT room with Internet access, science laboratory, centralised air-conditioned rooms, sufficient parking space, library facilities, covered basketball court, playground and assembly point, air-conditioned bus service, audio and video room for kindergartens, canteen, auditorium, and a function hall. TPS is now accepting registration and enrolment is going on. Classes commence on August 24 this year.
