New Year holiday for UAE federal ministries and private sector announced

The Federal ministries and entities will be off work on Wednesday, the 1st of January 2014, to mark the new year, according to a circular issued today by Humaid bin Mohammed Obaid Al Qattami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR).

The circular, which is based on the provisions of paragraph 5, article no. 100 of the cabinet decision no 13 of 2010 of the federal law and no 11 of 2008 on government human resources, stated that work will resume on Thursday 2nd January 2014.

Workers and employees in the institutions and companies of the private sector will get a one-day paid holiday on the first of January 2014 to mark the New Year.

The Minister of Labour, Saqr Ghobash, made a circular to this effect today.

Al Qattami and Ghobash congratulated the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Their Highnesses, Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates and people of the UAE on the occasion.
