DUBAI — Famous playback singer, K.S. Chitra, who is popularly known as the ‘Nightingale of South India’, is in Dubai to perform at four venues in the UAE as part of the New Year celebrations in the mega stage show, “Chitrotsavam.”
Chitra, is performing at a live concert after an interval, is accompanied by young singers Rajesh Vijay, Viswanath and Nisam Paluvay on the stage. Selected Hindi, Tamil, Arabic and Malayalam songs are being presented with the support of audio-visual accompaniments.
According to the organisers, the four-hour-long programme is promised to be a bouquet of enthralling rendering of popular music, scintillating dance performances with foot-taping numbers and an array of rib-tickling comedy skits, said the organisers.
Other major attractions of Chitrotsavam will be “Jackson Mania,” a special dance performance by a team led by the 1999 MTV award winning Pakistani dancer Mudassar Mohammed, who is a Michael Jackson impersonator, and a mimicry show called “One Man Fun Man,” presented by famous mimicry star Ashraf Ponnani. Young Pakistani actress Binish Ali will anchor the show.
The event, directed by K.K. Moideen Koya, would be a New Year’s gift that would be enjoyed by all expatriates irrespective of their languages and nationalities, said the organisers.
The first show of “Chitrotsav” was held at the Cricket Stadium in Sharjah on Thursday followed by a performance on Friday at the Water and Electricity Club Stadium, at Mina, Abu Dhabi and a third show at the Ice Rink at Al Nasar Leisureland in Dubai on New Year’s Day. The final show will be held at Ajman Beach Hotel on January 2.
K.S. Chitra has set a record by bagging the coveted national award for playback singing for five times and various state awards for 25 times. Tickets are priced at Dh50, 30, 20 in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ajman and Dh50, 35 and 25 in Dubai.
