The Ministry of Environment and Water said no consignments of contaminated dairy products with the bacterium strain known “Clostridium Botulinum”, which causes food poisonings, have entered the UAE from New Zealand.
This was announced by Saif Mohammed Al Shara, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry for Agricultural and Livestock Affairs.
He added the ministry continues the coordination with the competent authorities over the notification from the Ministry for Primary Industries in New Zealand about the contamination of whey protein that enters in the composition of milk products.
Al Shara noted that the circular has been issued to the local authorities to prevent the entry of products whose composition has the contaminated whey protein, whether imported directly from New Zealand or indirectly through re-exportation from Australia, China, Malaysia, Vietnam and Saudi Arabia.
