Limo Service or Limo-On-Call is the latest in-thing in Sharjah after announcements that taxi fares to other emirates would start at Dh20 from December.
“It is convenient, trouble-free and affordable,” said Mahmoud Abdul Rahman Idrees, general manager for Advantage Limousine,
The company also runs the Advantage Taxi service in Sharjah.
Launched in June this year, the service is ideal for regular commuters. Says Mahmoud, “There is no starting metre. For a seven seater vehicle, the rate is Dh85 to anywhere from Sharjah and Dh75 for a five seater vehicle.”
“So after the Dh20 fare is applicable by December, the limo may, at times, be affordable than a taxi,” he adds.
“We do have students and teachers travelling as far as the
The popularity of the service can be gauged by the fact that Sharjah Public Transport Corporation (SPTC) that regulates all such services in the emirate, also, launched a similar service in August.
The general manager of SPTC, Abdullah Al Zari, said: “The vehicle is not actually a limousine. It is a Dh10 per hour service for exclusive use within the emirate.”
“The service can be booked over the phone (up to three days before the journey) on an hourly, weekly or a monthly basis,” said Mahmoud, adding that the company has allocated some top of the range vehicles like Lexus, Tahoe and Caprice to make customers feel extra comfortable.
The vehicles are on call and arrive at the required destination within 15 minutes.
“The rates are fixed. To book the limo for a month, the rates are quite competitive, ”he said.
He said: “Passengers just need to sit back and relax as we make travelling a pleasant experience in heavy traffic. We also ensure that the passengers feel as comfortable as they would be in their private vehicles.”
As an extra touch, the windows of the vehicles have been tinted as per the law while trained drivers handle the 70-odd vehicle fleet.
“The response in Sharjah has been great and we plan on adding more vehicles to the current fleet,” Mahmoud said.
