As per the new decision, Monday will be dedicated for ladies in Al Mamzar while in Jumeirah Beach Park, they would be Sunday and Wednesday.

Earlier, the municipality’s Parks and Horticulture Department had introduced Sunday and Tuesday as women-only days in Al Mamzar Beach Park and Monday and Wednesday in Jumeirah Beach Park. However, on Sunday, the civic body announced a decision that revised the days.

“We have carried out a study regarding female visitors’ requirements, and we are implementing it according to the tradition and culture of the people,” Director-General of Dubai Municipality Hussain Nasser Lootah said in a statement.

According to him, the municipality has made certain arrangements to execute the new plan. As reported by Khaleej Times last week, the beaches, numbered one, two, and five in Al Mamzar will now be available exclusively for tourists.

Beach number four would be specially allotted for families and beach number three would be for student groups.

“Swimming pools and chalets would be available only for ladies (on women-only days) according to the prior bookings,” the municipality’s statement added. Ahmed Abdul Kareem, the Director of Parks and Horticulture Department at the municipality, said the number of picnickers has increased these days. Noting that the beach parks would now follow the days revised by the Director-General, he said notices would be placed at the parks’ entrances to inform the general public about the changes. The official did not specify any particular reason for the revision of the days.

Some women said the revision may cause confusion among female beach-goers. In Al Mamzar, the park staff allowed entry to male visitors on Sunday. The sudden change caused confusion among hotel employees who had to arrange beach trips. Staff at the concierge of Sheraton Deira said their guests were confused when they were told that the ladies only day is on Mondays at Al Mamzar.
