NRIs alert: Have you received this fake message about Indian elections?

The news has been circulating across various WhatsApp groups.

As India gets closer to the Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission has warned voters about a WhatsApp message that is going viral on various chat groups.
The message claims that NRIs can vote online for the upcoming elections. All they need to do is register online on eci.gov.in and enroll as an overseas voter.
To bust the rumour, ECI spokesperson Sheyphali Sharan took to Twitter clarifying that it is a fake message.
"It has come to our notice that the following FAKE NEWS is circulating on some WhatsApp groups. It is clarified that you can only apply for voter registration online through http://nvsp.in  portal," she tweeted.

To cast vote, an Overseas voter may come to his/her designated Polling station with Passport as document for identification.
