An Emirati teacher died and three others, including two children, were injured when a speeding car that the teacher was driving made a hasty turn into a petrol station for refuelling.
The crash in Dubai on Monday evening left the 39-year-old Emirati mom-of-four dead and another Emirati woman and her two children injured.
According to Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director at the General Directorate of Traffic at Dubai Police, the accident was caused when the teacher took a sudden right turn to enter a gas station in Dubai's Al Aweer area.
He said that another car, which was moving in its correct lane and coming in from the opposite direction, crashed into her car, leaving the woman seriously injured. She was rushed to the hospital by the Air Wing of Dubai Police but died upon arrival at the hospital.
Al Mazroui said that the Air Wing of the Dubai Police tried to provide first aid to the woman.
The other woman driver and her two children, who were with her in the car during the accident, sustained injuries and were rushed to Rashid Hospital for medical treatment.
The woman who died left behind four children, and was buried in Diba Al Hisn.
Dubai Police experts have drafted the traffic accident report and referred it to the Dubai Traffic Prosecution.
Al Mazroui said that sudden swerving is the third modst fatal cause of accidents on Dubai roads, responsible for 14 deaths this year so far compared with 12 last year.
He noted that this violation is very dangerous and that the fine is not in line with the dangerous offence, which sometimes results in death.
