A total of 3,250 pedestrians have so far been stopped by the recently launched Isnad patrol for crossing roads from unauthorized areas in various streets in Sharjah.

Captain Jamal Bu Afrah, head of the road monitoring section at Sharjah traffic department, said Isnad patrols were launched recently to be deployed on streets of Sharjah to prevent various types of accidents that could result in death, permanent disability and hug loss of properties.

The Isnad patrol is currently being deployed at 320 points that witness continuous crowd through the day. They managed to prevent 3,250 people of various nationalities trying to cross the road from unsafe and unauthorized areas. The Isnad police officers also educated them about importance of following the rule to prevent them from being run over by speedy cars.

Isnad responsibility is to also detect any illegal activities and negative events taking place in public streets and residential areas. They conducted 312 reports and filed a survey about illegal activities to prepare precautionary and preventive measures in various parts of Sharjah.

The Isnad police also launched 20 inspection points to carry out inspections targeting drivers who fail to renew their driving licence and registration and those who drive without licenses. The inspection campaign in these points inspected 8,452 cars and distributed 16,430 awareness publications among public to spread traffic safety culture.

Captain Bu Afra told Khaleej Times that Isnad patrols aimed at ensuring safety and security in the emirate and giving residents the confidence that they are living in peace and stability.

The patrols will be deployed 24 hours a day and seven days a week and will be working closely with Anjad patrols to quickly response to emergency in any points.
