Security arrangements have been beefed up as Dubai is all prepared for the programme of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Dubai Cricket Stadium on Monday.
The Indian Prime Minister was received at the Abu Dhabi Airport on Sunday by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
He is scheduled to address over 50,000 people of Indian diaspora at the Dubai Cricket Stadium on Monday.
The stadium has a capacity to seat 30,000 people while the grounds outside can hold the remaining 20,000 people. The cricket stadium pitch will hold 10,000 guests who've purchased the Gold, Silver, and Platinum passes. Gates to the stadium open at 4pm and the cultural programme will begin at 6.30pm.
Consul-General of India Anurag Bhushan, organising committee member B.R. Shetty and convener for events, K. Kumar met members of the media on Sunday for a briefing on what to and what not to expect from the event.
"All Dubai government departments have collaborated with the organisers to make this event as seamless as possible," Bhushan said. Attendees are required to make it to the venue as early as possible since seating will be made available on a first come, first serve basis.
Bhushan explained that the world is going to watch Dubai for the next two days.
"The event will open with a grand cultural show and the Prime Minister's speech is expected to take place at 8pm. All gates to the stadium will be closed at 7.30pm. No one will be allowed to leave the venue till the PM finishes his speech."
Huge LCD screens, video walls, and augmented reality screens have also been installed inside and outside the two grounds outside the stadium. "We are trying to make the visit as comfortable as we can for those attending," said B.R. Shetty.
"Security has been beefed up at the sports stadium. There is only a single entry point into the stadium, which is from the North gate," K. Kumar said.
