Public parking areas in Abu Dhabi's sectors W34 in Al Bateen Area and W1-01 - an area which borders Corniche beach and Corniche Street - will be paid zones effective October 23.
The Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT) has announced the implementation of 579 surface parking bays in sectors W34 and W1-01 in Abu Dhabi City.
Mohammed Hamad Al Muhairi, general manager of parking division at Mawaqif, said the implementation of paid parking includes 379 standard bays in sector W34. On the other hand, 200 premium parking bays have been implemented in sector W1-01.
Al Muhairi said the aim of the initiative is to decrease illegal parking issues. He warned that it is illegal to park on yellow and grey markings, in the middle of the road, drop off and pick up points, pedestrian crossings, access points and fire hydrants.
