Gathering at Al Ghusias cricket ground on Thursday night, people enjoyed kite flying all through the night till late Friday evening.

With lilting Punjabi numbers blaring from the nearby parked cars, kite lovers and fliers - males, females and children - turn their sights upwards to applaud an ongoing 'kite-cutting' competition.

After an opponent's kite has been 'cut' by letting the dor down upon the opponent's dor and tugging at it, bhangra, screams of joy and blasting of horns announces the victory.

"I have been flying kites since I was a little boy," says Qadir Ali who was accompanied by his three children, wife and other family friends.
