The first international exhibition of Pakistan's first woman Goodwill Ambassador to UN, Muniba Mazari, was held in Dubai under the title 'And I choose to Live.' Over 300 people across all nationalities attended the two-day exhibition, which was inaugurated by the Pakistan's ambassador to the UAE Moazzam Ahmad Khan.
Lauding Muniba's artwork, Khan said: "Muniba uses her actions, her words and her art to show the world the bright light that shines within her. Her style depicts a mix of sensitivity and intensity which I think, is a reflection of her own character, as seen in her social work."
"Every day we wake up in the morning and make choices. We choose not to give up and in this art show, I am sharing my story, your story with the world through colours and this time without uttering a single word," Muniba said.
"Knowing that this world is not an easy place to live, we choose to face it everyday no matter what the odds are. We face challenges every day and I personally wait for these challenges because they keep me going. That is why my exhibition is named 'And I choose to Live'.
The exhibition was hosted by the Embassy of Pakistan, Poetic Strokes and The Collectors Galleria, Lahore at the Pakistan Association Dubai.
Introducing visitors to her art work, Muniba said: "It is okay to be vulnerable or scared. The best way to fight is to speak or paint them and that's what I do. This art show is for all those who suffer discrimination be it gender, religion or racial and people who suffer from physical and mental challenges. I wish to see this world as a place that is more human, where they support each other and not pull each other down. We need a little more kindness, a little less judgment to make this world a better place to live in."
