Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has ruled out response to opposition's questions on Panama Papers when he comes to the parliament on Friday.
"I will not talk about issues on which I have already written a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan," the premier told reporters on board plane while returning from Tajikistan on Thursday.
He said the opposition has no right to ask him any question as he is not answerable to them. The leaked documents from the Mossack Fonseca in Panama last month showed premier's sons, Hassan and Hussain, and his daughter, Maryam, owned at least three offshore holding companies registered in the British Virgin Island.
Sharif said he had already written to the Chief Justice of Pakistan for an inquiry into the papers; hence, he will not respond to the issue in parliament.
He said the opposition was not interested in an investigation, and only wanted to play politics on the issue. The premier said he will talk about the controversy before the judicial commission only. Adding that the opposition was targeting him and trying to revile him.
Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan told reporters that the opposition has written a letter to the speaker that it would conditionally listen to the prime minister's speech without any interruption. However, if he fails to address the issues raised in the opposition questionnaire, it would lodge its protest.
