DUBAI - The first pan-Arab issue of the Egyptian Al Akhbar Arabic daily will see the light today following the signing of an agreement between the Egyptian printing-house and Al Ghurair Printing Press yesterday.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Jalal Dewaidar, Chief Editor of Al Akhbar Printing House, Nabil Abaza, Chief Editor of Ketab El Youm Printing House and Director-General of Cultural Sector from the Egyptian side; and Kishud Joli, Director-General of Al Ghurair Printing Press. Also present was Abdul Aziz Dawood, Consul-General of Egypt in Dubai.
The Pan-Arab issue will be circulated in the UAE and Oman concurrently with the daily local issue in Egypt.
Mr Dewaidar organises a Press conference today at Dubai Press Club to announce the launch of the inter-Arab edition of Al Akhbar daily. The pan-Arab edition will include additional pages focusing on the Arabian Gulf region.
The Egyptian Consul-General on Monday held a reception to the delegation of Al Akhbar, which was attended by Khalid Al Ghurair, Chairman of Al Ghurair Printing Press and a team from the Journalists' Association.
"Al Akhbar House is and has always been making utmost efforts to establish strong ties with Arab countries, especially the UAE," said the Egyptian Consul-General.
Mr Dewaidar emphasised that Al Akhbar House, which releases the two Arabic daily newspapers, Al Akhbar and Akhbar El Youm, has been eager to have presence in the Gulf region to strengthen relationships between Egypt and the Arab world. "We also aim at keeping Egyptian expatriates residing abroad to remain in touch with their homeland and the happenings there," he added.
