Islamabad: Several flights were cancelled on the Tuesday, the 6th consecutive day of deadlock between the national carrier Pakistan International Airlines and the Pakistan Airlines Pilot Association (Palpa) adding to the miseries of passengers.
Owing to the standoff, more than 70 flights including 30 international and 45 domestic flights were cancelled.
Another round of talks between the Palpa and the government ended in a deadlock.
Palpa has refused to step down while the government is also not budging. The association also rejected formation of a committee on the matter.
According to media reports, a PIA spokesman said that all the precautionary measures would be taken to overcome shortage of pilots and to deal with the situation.
Palpa President alleged that doctrine of might is right is in place in the PIA. Shujaat Azim appoints chairman of PIA to whom he likes and appoints as civil aviation chief whom he wants.
The PIA management said that passengers are suffering and the airline is suffering heavy financial losses due to inflexible attitude of Palpa.
