Peppered beef potjie

Serves: 4
Ingredients
Shin beef, diced 2 kg
Olive oil 130 ml
Onion, diced 500 gm
Garlic, chopped 150 gm
Cardamom 10 gm
Cinnamon stick 20 gm
Turmeric 20 gm
Pepper, crushed 30 gm
Water 900 ml
Coconut cream 350 ml
Salt 30 gm
French beans, blanched, refreshed 100 gm
Method
In a medium-sized pot, heat the oil and sauté the onion, garlic, cardamom and cinnamon. Cook for 8-10 minutes.
Add the diced beef, turmeric and pepper. Continue frying for 5-8 minutes.
Add water, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 90 minutes.
Add coconut cream and cook for a further 30 minutes.
Add salt and check if the meat is tender.
To serve, mix the beans with the cooked meat and serve with rice or mash.
