Philippine Postmaster-General and CEO of Philpost, Ma. Josefina M. de la Cruz, in a brief presentation on Tuesday, shared with officials and staff of the diplomatic missions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi that the new business plan has been offered first to the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
The Postmaster-General led a team, who came for a two-day visit to Dubai in an effort to establish an understanding with the UAE’s Emirates Post (Empost) following a similar visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

During her short presentation, de la Cruz shared with the audience the change in the business plan of Phlpost, which is now involved in parcel and cash deliveries besides the traditional mail.
She said that Phlpost is in talks with various institutions in order to establish an understanding for it to become a sizeable player in the area of parcel and door-to-door cash delivery services. “With a big number of Filipino nationals in the region, Saudi Arabia and the UAE offer the best environment to jump start the new business plan.”
“With Phlpost virtually present in all towns in the Philippines, it has the manpower as well as the logistics required to carry out door-to-door deliveries, which it has been doing with the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme of the government,” she said.
She also urged those present in the briefing that Phlpost be given a chance to prove its mettle, which was received warmly by the Filipino Community and the diplomatic officers and staff.
Philippine Consul-General Benito B. Valeriano in Dubai received the visiting Postmaster-General and party at the PCG premises.
Officers and staff of the Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines (Dubai), Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Philippine Overseas Labour Office-Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (POLO-OWWA) Dubai, Department of Tourism-Middle East, and the representatives of UAE’s Empost, Landbank of the Philippines, Philippine Business Council, Filipino Community Governing Council, and leaders of various Filipino organisations attended the event.
The Postmaster-General was accompanied by Mama S. Lalanto, al Haj, APMG for Administration and Maura Baghari-Regis, Area Director.
