The UAE Cabinet issued a decree to give private sector an equal number of holidays as public sector for this year until 2020.
The decree comes with an aim to achieve a balance between the two sectors and support the national economy.
In 2019-20, employees of both sectors will get 14 official public holidays, according to the UAE Cabinet. With this, the number of holidays for the private sector has been increased.
According to the list of holidays for this year and the next, Israa Wal Miraj (Rajab 27) and Prophet Muhammad's (Peace be upon him) birthday (Rabi Al Awwal 12) won't be public holidays as was the case previously. However, the number of holidays for Eid Al Fitr has been increased.
A one-day holiday is scheduled for Monday, June 3, for day 29 and 30 of Ramadan, according to the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department of the Government of Dubai.
As per the list of holidays, a three-day holiday for Eid Al Fitr is likely to begin on Wednesday, June 5, making it a long weekend, according to the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department of the Government of Dubai.
Another three-day holiday is scheduled for Sunday, August 11, on account of Eid Al Adha.
Public sector workers also will get three days off from Sunday, December 1 to Tuesday, December 3 to mark National Day and Commemoration Day.
