Pop star touches hearts

DUBAI — Princess Bee, Italy’s R & B pop star and the only songwriter to have received patronage from the Unesco for her song Angels which talks about the fundamental importance of peace and solidarity, will once again move people with her charitable heart.

Her popular song Touch my Skin, released on the internet in January this year through leading international music web portals iTunes, Amazon, Yala.fm and Facebook, is expected to dominate the airwaves in the Middle East region, for charity.

“The promotion of my last dance song Touch My Skin has started, and 50 per cent of the profit of every of my artistic activity goes for charity. The song is going very well and has increased my fan club as many radio stations and MTV are playing my song,” Princess Bee says.

She is back here in the UAE for the Dubai World Cup, and will be here until April 5. “I’ll also visit Abu Dhabi. In Dubai, I lived in Jumeirah for a long time. I’ve spent a really nice time here.”

Benedetta Paravia, her real name, will also promote for her new song on “society’s take on false values like luxury, aesthetics and power — abusing the minds of those who are weakest and most vulnerable.”

Popularly known for taking care of the sick and the wounded children from war-torn countries of Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq and Morocco through her foundation, National Association of Young Energies Leading Solidarity (A.N.G.E.L.S.), this Italian pop star has dedicated the song, ‘Angels’, to the global effort to achieve peace.

On the Unesco- patronage, she says: “I was really surprised when I heard about the patronage. The letter I received from Unesco informing me of the citation read: ‘Because of the thematic importance of the lyrics with the same value of Unesco such as peace and solidarity between populations, although endorsements from Unesco are not given to musical productions belonging to living artists, Unesco endorses with its patronage the song for peace, ‘Angels.’”

To date, she is the only living artist to have received this distinction. “This recognition made me clearly understand the importance of my dream, which inspired me to establish Angels Onlus, which aims to help the sick and needy children in Italy and from war-torn areas, as well.” — lily@khaleejtimes.com
